In this episode, Noel Salas and Duke Aipa reintroduce the Supernova, now built in Surftech’s all-new Fusion Pro construction. After Noel and Duke originally designed the Supernova together in 2024, demand quickly grew from surfers around the world who wanted to experience this unique design. With strong interest coming from Australia, Europe, Japan, Brazil, and beyond, Noel and Duke partnered with Surftech to make the Supernova available globally.

As the episode unfolds, Duke shares the design’s roots, explaining how the inspiration traces back to one of his father’s surfboard designs from the mid-1980s. He breaks down the board’s key attributes and explains why the Supernova stands out as the fastest surfboard Noel has ever ridden. Noel dives deeper into what makes the Supernova so unique, including why he prefers the new Fusion Pro EPS/epoxy construction. Designed as a small-wave groveler, the Supernova draws high-performance lines in the pocket while delivering unmatched speed. There is simply no other board on the market with a comparable outline and low overall rocker that can generate this level of speed and performance in small waves.

Watch the full episode to see the Supernova in action, from wave pool sessions to small-wave ocean clips featuring some exceptional surfers.

___

In this episode, Noel Salas and Duke Aipa talk about their 2-year journey designing the new Aipa "Supernova" surfboard together. Come along and watch as they explain all that went into this brand-new 2nd board in Noel's dream quiver. Wave range is for shoulder/head high max wave length and is designed for super mushy waves in a "performance groveler" category. This board has a super flat rocker that has speed like no other surfboard. It's easy to maneuver with a pointed nose and a decent amount of rail line. Noel was looking for speed that was "borderline out of control," and this board is just that. He also wanted a surfboard that would suit back-footed, front-footed and neutral-footed surfers. Not only does this surfboard have speed, but it can pivot easily, and several surfers mentioned they loved the board and didn't want to get off it. You can run it as a Thruster, a Twin Plus Trailer, or even with a Quad fin set up, and it squirts with speed. Watch the full review for all the details on how this board came together.
