In this episode, I review Pyzel’s new HPSB (high-performance short board) called the “Shadow.” The Shadow is the 4th model in the Ghost family that completes a four-board quiver for waves ranging from 1-10’+.

The Shadow fills the gap between the Ghost and Phantom for the surfer looking for precise surfing in more critical sections. We got great waves for this review ranging from 2-5’, and the Shadow did not disappoint. I noticed the similarities between the Shadow and Phantom, like great down-the-line-speed and good flow between turns.

I got two boards with the exact same dimensions for this review. One board was PU/PE with Futures fin boxes and the other board is EPS/Epoxy with FCSII fin boxes. Both board constructions felt good underfoot, and each of them had their strengths and weaknesses in different conditions.

The Shadow is solid in my book, and I recommend it for intermediate/pro-level surfers for waves ranging from 3-8’.
