In this episode I reach out to the folks at Xcel Wetsuits to get my hands on a couple of their award winning wetsuits.
Xcel was gracious enough to give me a couple of Drylock X wetsuits (4/3mm) to test this winter in 56° water with cold off shore winds. I first surfed with the 4/3 Comp X as the water dropped into the high 50’s with the heavy off shore wind I needed a little more warmth so I put on the 4/3mm Drylock X.
The smooth wetsuit pieces on the chest and back really block the wind and kept me very warm. The Drylock X is a bit warmer compared to the Comp X series but what I gained in warmth with the Drylock X I sacrificed in flexibility, and light weight material compared to the Comp X.
The Drylock X kept me warm and the flexibility and comfort was there too! I will be wearing my Drylock X until the water warms up and we get some waves!!!
